Accessibility
The Lodge @ Birkby Hall is committed to providing access for all guests; including those with disabilities, and will endeavour to provide accommodation to suit.
Wheelchair access is located at the front of the building. A designated parking space is allocated immediately in front of the ramp leading to the building.
Extra time and consideration will be given to anybody with mobility, visual or hearing restrictions.
All guests are given a personal tour of the facilities.
Anybody with restricted vision or hearing is encouraged to request a more detailed explanation should they require it.
For those with restricted mobility:
- Access to the house is via a short ramp, from the allocated parking area, to the front door.
- Handrails are provided for the ramp.
- The ramp provides access to a flat area from which access can be made either to the main front door with access to the bedroom from the hallway or to a door (85cm wide) with direct access to the bedroom.
- The ground floor twin/double room has been designed specifically for people with restricted mobility.
- The en-suite all-level floor wet room (measuring 4.5m by 1.6m) is accessed via a wide door (85cm). The wet room has been built to accommodate a disabled guest and is equipped with a free standing shower chair and the usual array of grab handles at appropriate heights.
- There is sufficient space for a wheelchair to have access for left hand side transfer to the WC seat.
- Both shower and tap water are thermostatically controlled to prevent scalding.
- Light switches and power sockets have been positioned for easy access.
- In case of emergency, an alarm pull cord is situated in the bathroom.
